Kat St.Carn designs unique, contemporary digital art ~ mostly from photographs but some from sketches. She offers her work in limited edition Giclee’ prints or on stretched canvas, both in many different sizes.

Kat’s art is fanciful, creating excitement and visual appeal, which gives a somatic sensation in its colorful designs and thematic interpretation. It’s ‘Artful Elegance’, a foray of passion, which ignites the senses and dominates the powerful emotions it invokes.

Growing up in a small city in South Carolina, the artist in Kat St.Carn ached to see more of whatever was out there waiting to be caught on camera; so, being confined to any place only fuels her desire to see other parts of the country.

As for today, Kat St.Carn's two sons are much of her inspiration, as is Tom, her husband, manager and number-one supporter of her art. They keep her grounded so she can ‘fly’.

In contrast to classical art, contemporary digital art depends on the camera, as well as the hardware and software of the computer. Fortunately, many solutions to graphic obstacles are designed for aesthetic applications.

The digital artist is also looking at both: the possibilities of expression provided by the computer language, and the imagination, creativity and sensitivity of the artist. It begins with the art form of photography, using perspective and vision, forming just the beginning of an idea to be emphasized. The form and content of the art’s message are two other aspects that have to be considered.

Though somewhat controversial, digital art uses several facets of art as it is applied to the creation of an idea. It isn’t just using film, oil, watercolor, clay or acrylic to accomplish its goal. It’s using the expertise of photography and combining it with the knowledge of computer software to then produce the artist’s vision of the piece. You may see more of her work at www.katstcarn.com.
